Bill McAlee came out of Johnsonburg, PA to follow a path of football victories in two states.
He was the middle of the line for the 1955-56 AU teams that posted back-to-back undefeated seasons. The 1956 team was honored by the Washington Touchdown Club as the top small college team in the nation.
His career as a high school coach has been exceptional. At Elk County Christian High School in St. Mary's, PA, Bill's teams were 37-14-2.
McAlee moved to Caledonia-UC Mumford Central School in Livingston County where his record stands at 110-13-2 and counting. Bill says this will be his final year of coaching.
In 1969, McAlee was honored as Coach of the Year in Big 30 area (New York State and PA). He was Coach of the Year in the Greater Rochester area in 1973 and New York State High School Coach of the Year in 1980.
Prior to all this, Bill coached an undefeated freshman football team at AU and winning wrestling squad at Alfred-Almond Central School.
McAlee holds a rare record of playing five seasons of varsity football at AU. He was injured (broken arm) in the first minutes of the opening game of his senior year. The NCAA and ECAC approved eligibility for the next season.
He is a charter member of the Alfred Lions Club and trustee in the Village of Caledonia.
Five children: Rebecca Bank, Elizabeth McAlee, Kelly McAlee, Kate McAlee and William McAlee.
