Don Miller a was four-year letter-winner for the Saxons and is one of the most decorated football players in the 120-year-old program.Â
As a defensive tackle he was named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team twice as a First Team member in 2006 and 2007. He also earned Associated Press All-America Third Team, D3Football.com All-East Region First Team and ECAC All-Northwest Region honors during his career.
Within the Empire 8 he snagged All-Conference Team honors four times; once as an Honorable Mention, once as a Second Team honoree and twice as a First Team member.Â
During his four years with the Saxons, Miller helped AU to a previously unprecedented 33-11 overall record and four ECAC Northeast Championships. His leadership aided the Saxons to a 188-85 scoring margin in those four games.
Over the course of his career, Miller finished with 222 tackles as a defensive tackle, including 24.5 tackles for a loss and 10.5 sacks. He also added 11 rushing touchdowns, stepping in on specialty goal line packages for the Saxons.
When asked about his biggest thrill at Alfred, Miller cited beating St. John Fisher, 13-7, on the road in 2005 and Ithaca, 28-17, at home in 2006. He also enjoyed creating lifelong friendships and great memories while playing football at AU.Â
A native of Leroy, NY, Miller graduated from AU with a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2007. He currently resides in Rumford, ME.
