Hall of Fame
Completed 32 years of service as Alfred University’s Sports Information Director in 1987. He earned the ECAC Service Citation Award in 1987 and the Irving T. Marsh Memorial Award also given by the ECAC in 1984. Nelson was cited as an honorary Alumnus of Alfred University in 1984. In 1980, he was inducted in the Alfred University Hall of Fame and was the only Sports Information Director at the time in the East with that honor. He was honored for 25 years of service by the Counsel for the Advancement and Support of Education in 1982 and voted Man of the Year in Hornell. For many years he worked on “The Saxon Warrior”.
