Alfred University's first super scoring star of basketball. In his senior year (1926-27), Nichols scored 261 points for 13.0 points per game to finish second only to Vic Hanson in the East. This was in the early era of the sport when the center jump was still in style. In a game against St. Bonaventure, he scored 16 of AU's 18 points all from center of the court. Won four varsity letters in basketball. Native of Shinglehouse, PA.
