Mike Doviak came to Alfred University from Kulpmont High School in Pennsylvania. He was a three-sport athlete competing in football, basketball and baseball.Â
During his career at Alfred University, Doviak concentrated on basketball, but did compete on the track & field and cross country team. His accomplishments on the basketball court are still on the AU record books where he ranks 15th in scoring and second in rebounds. His biggest thrill as an AU student-athlete was winning the conference championship during his senior year.
Mike graduated in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He returned to the classroom after leaving AU to receive his Master's in mathematics from Buckness in 1970, and in 1975 he received a doctorate in statistics from the University of Florida.Â
Doviak resides in Norfold, VA where he is employed at Old Dominion University as an Associate Professor in Mathematics and Statistics Department. Mike and his wie Suzanne have a nine-year-old daughter, Meaghan.
