Vision
The Sports Medicine Program's vision here at Alfred University is to provide high quality medical care involving injury prevention, management of athletic injuries, rehabilitation of athletic injuries, psychological/general wellbeing to all student athletes within the Athletic Department. The Alfred University Sports Medicine Program is dedicated to becoming the leader in sports medicine services in the Empire 8.
Mission
The mission of the Alfred University Sports Medicine program is to provide the highest quality healthcare available to our student-athletes in a professional and caring manner in order to prevent and rehabilitate athletic injury. The purpose of the Sports Medicine Program is multifaceted. First, we strive to allow easy access to sports medicine services to student-athletes. Second, we aim to encourage a philosophy of sport that places a high value of health and wellness. Third, we want to enable injured student-athletes to return to their sports as soon as medically safe. Finally, we plan to be able to substantially reduce the risk of athletic injury for those student athletes in our service.
The underlying philosophy for this program is that the medical needs of the student-athlete shall always be the first consideration for all members of our staff. The National Athletic Trainers' Association Code of Ethics states the principles of ethical behavior should be followed in the practice of sports medicine. It is intended to establish and maintain ambitious standards and professionalism for the sports medicine profession. The principles do not cover every situation encountered by the practicing athletic trainer but are representative of the spirit with which athletic trainers should make decisions. The principles are written generally; the circumstances of a situation will determine the interpretation and application of a given principle and of the Code as a whole. When a conflict exists between the Code and the law, the law prevails.
We will remain committed to the continuous upgrade of the equipment used in the delivery of sports medicine services so our athletes can be assured of the most modern care available and so we meet our desired goal of being recognized as the leader in Sports Medicine Services in the Empire 8.

Concussion Assessment and Baseline Testing
Alfred University utilizes ImPACT, a computerized neurocognitive assessment tool, to baseline test athletes in all sports. These tools are also used to track an athlete's recovery and guide the athlete's return to play.
Physicals and Insurance Information
The physical and insurance information can be found at swol123.net. The student-athletes' coach(es) will send a letter to the student-athletes regarding how to obtain access to this software.
