Alfred University Athletics General Game Day Policies
Pet Policy
To maintain a safe and welcoming campus for all faculty, staff, students and visitors, the Alfred Department of Athletics has enacted a “No Pet” Policy at all campus athletics venues. No animals are permitted in indoor facilities and within the confines of outdoor athletics facilities during any organized activity (including, but not limited to, athletic events, alumni gatherings, concerts, and intramural activities) in which students, spectators or guests are invited to gather. “Confines” includes viewing stands and any area that might be used by guests to observe or participate in the event.
While we appreciate that pets may provide comfort to many individuals, the risks of behavioral unpredictability, health concerns and disruption require the restriction of pets in these areas.
Service Animals
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a service animal has been trained to perform specific tasks to assist a person with a disability. It is important to note that these animals are working, and not pets. As you encounter service dogs across campus, please refrain from distracting the animal by petting, calling, or feeding it.
Service dogs are permitted to accompany their handlers, even in areas that do not allow pets; for example, classrooms, residence halls, and the dining areas. Service animals must be under the control of their handlers either with a leash, harness, through voice or other signals, and are not required to wear vests.
For further guidance and information, the ADA offers a host of resources.
We ask fans, parents and student-athletes to follow these guidelines.
If you have questions regarding the pet policy, contact Associate Director of Athletics
Erin Schurr at (607) 871-2317
