About Saxon Nation:
On July 1, 2016, the Friends of Saxon Athletics Board of Directors announced the name change to Saxon Nation. The new name had the same goal - enhance the experience of the then 400-plus University’s student-athletes. The Board explained that “Saxon Nation” encompassed the spirit of team and pride that comes with participation – as a player, alumna, alumnus, or fan – in Alfred University.
The Saxon Nation fund supported all programs while earmarked gifts for sports allowed for the purchase of sport-specific items.
In August of 2023, the Saxon Nation Board of Directors announced a sport-specific fundraising model that allows donors to directly impact the program of their choice. One hundred percent of the donor’s gift will support the program or programs in which the donor is passionate. In addition to sports, gifts can be made to Athletic Communications, Sports Medicine, Strength & Conditioning and the Saxon Nation General Fund.
Each year, coaches and program leaders will identify priorities then fundraising efforts will be aimed at supporting those needs. Gifts to the Saxon Nation General Fund continue to be encouraged as those funds will support our approximately 600 student-athletes and department-wide initiatives. More specifically, the Saxon Nation General Fund will support equipment, facility improvements, video streaming, website capabilities, recruiting expenses, team and department awards, programming for student-athletes, professional development for staff and more.
All donors will be considered members of Saxon Nation and will receive benefits (e.g., eNewsletters, parking passes, invitations to special events).
