During his varsity track & field career at Alfred University, Willard was "king of the high hurdles" in the New York State College Conference. 
He won a freshman race as a starter and then was the conference champion for the next three years in both indoor and outdoor.
"LaFauci was a very good team man," Cliff DeBreuil said. "I recall a meet at Hamilton when he scored points in six events...both hurdle races, long jump, triple jump, relay and 200."
He set AU records of 14.3 in high hurdles and 44 feet 5 and 1/4 inches in the triple jump. 
LaFauci played one season of soccer at AU, and then competed in solely track & field.
He won the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award.
LaFauci, 34 years old, was born in Rockville Centre, NY. He is a graduate of South Side High School in Rockville Centre.
In high school he was on the soccer and track & field teams. He received a physical fitness award and was third in the high hurdles in New York State Interscholastic track & field championships. After this, he rarely was beaten in his specialty.
LaFauci earned a law degree from St. John's University in 1975. He was employed by three prominent New York City law firms before opening his own law firm in Rockville Centre. 
He is married to the former Shelley Brenner. They have one son, Greg Jonathan.
