James E. Kehoe found the second time a charm at AU. After attending AU from 1941-42, Kehoe went off to World War II. When he returned to Alfred in 1946 he made quite an impression on one of Alex Yunevich's many great football teams.
Kehoe made AU's return to football a triumphant one, quarterbacking the team to a 5-1 record in 1946 after a five-year absence due to World War II.
Kehoe was known as a consummate field general during hsi two seasons at quarterback for the Saxons. Kehoe has gone down in AU history as one of its greatest players, helping AU revive football when he and Alex Yunevich arrived back from the war.
For his efforts in 1946, Kehoe was tabbed on the All-Western New York College football squad. At the time, Buffalo Evening News sports columnist, Cy Kritzer, noted that "Without an air arm, Kehoe directed the Saxons ground attack so cleverly that is was never really stopped, even in their lone defeat by Buffalo."
Kehoe also participated in basketball at AU and was a member of the Footlight Club Productions. Kehoe opened hsi own law office in 1950 which operated today in Olean.
Kehoe and his wife Patricia have six daughters: Kathleen, Mary, Sheila, Adrienne, Ann and Colleen.
