Ask any of the Saxons who were on the field with him. Ask Coach Alex Yunevich. They'll tell you all about Alex Zoldan. They'll tell you he was one of the best interior linemen to play at AU.
He started as a guard in his freshman season and then was moved to tackle where he started every game for three years. In all, he earned eight varsity letters - four in football and four in track & field.
Born in Sharon, PA, Zoldan played his high school football in Middletown, NY where he was captain of football and also captain for track & field and president of the class.
Alex says his "biggest thrill" as an AU student-athlete was in a game against C.W. Post. With a first-an-goal on the AU 4-yard line, the Post quarterback faked to one halfback. He turned to hand off to the other halfback, and there was Zoldan to take the ball. Wonderful things like this do not happen to lineman every day of the week.
In his senior season, Zoldan was honored by three schools on their "All-Opponents" teams. He also was president of the Student Senate and president of the Junior class.
Now living in Scarsdale, NY, Zoldan practiced law for 12 years. Since 1978 he has been engaged in the construction of office buildings, shopping centers and residential home development. He is president of Zoldan Equities, Inc.
Mr. and Mrs. Zoldan are the parents of six children: Benji, Amy, Melissa, Sharon, Lynn and Laura.
