Hall of Fame
Coombes was a four-year member of the Alfred University men’s swimming & diving program as he placed his name on the school record board on numerous occasions. Upon graduation, Coombes had five individual school records and four relay records. In total, he won 57 individual and relay events.
Coombes currently holds the 100-yard freestyle (45.38), 100-yard freestyle relay split (44.66) and 200-yard medley relay split (1:39.81) records. He is part of the McLane Natatorium 400-yard freestyle relay school record (3:09.69) and holds the current school records in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:23.53), 400-yard freestyle relay (3:03.52) and 800-yard freestyle relay (6:47.09).
He currently holds both of the McLane Natatorium records in the 100 (46.70) and 200-yard freestyle (1:43.25) races.
Coombes earned three All-Empire 8 Second Team honors in 2015, finishing second in both the 100 and 200-yard free races as well as the 400-yard freestyle relay. He earned Empire 8 Athlete of the Week once as well as Saxon of the Week once.
Coombes earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice Studies in 2015.
