Lisa (Valitutto) Rossi was a starting forward four seasons (1998-02) on the Alfred University women’s basketball team, finishing her stellar career as one of the program’s top post players.

She finished her career at AU as the top scorer, with 1,368 points. The 396 points she scored her junior season of 2000-01 are the second-most ever in a single year in program history. She also pulled down 819 rebounds in her career, third-most in team history.

Lisa finished her career with 180 steals, which at the time was a school record and now ranks second all-time. She holds several career records for free throws, including foul shots made in a career (387), a season (130, 2000-01) and a game (17, vs. Keuka on Feb. 7, 2001).

She was a two-time Empire 8 Conference All-Star, earning Second Team league honors in 2000-01 and 2001-02.

A graduate assistant coach at AU for one season (2002-03), Lisa was a three-year captain during her playing career.

She cites playing in front of her parents as among the most memorable experiences from her career. Her parents traveled from New Hampshire and New Jersey to most of her games and were in the stands when she broke Hall of Famer Heidi Aldous’s AU career scoring record.

Lisa earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology (minor in counseling) from AU in 2002 and in 2005 earned a master’s degree in counseling services from Rider University.
