Nick Teta was a starting guard for four years on the AU football teams that were 23-6-1. The stretch includes back-to-back undefeated teams in 1955-56.
Teta gained Small College Honorable Mention All-America in 1955 and 1956. He captained the AU football team in 1957.
Born in Port Washington, NY, Teta earned high school letters in football, basketball, baseball and golf at Port Washington High School.
Prior to his enrollment at AU, Teta served in the Marine Corps from 1951-54.
For the past 27 years, he has worked in the field of education as teacher, guidance counselor and football coach. He was head football coach at Landor High School, Notre Dame High School of Elmira, Hornell High School and Aquinas of Rochester.
Teta presently is head football coach, guidance counselor and assistant athletic director at Bishop Kearney High School in Rochester. His overall high school coaching record is 103-47.
Nick played at AU back in a period when linemen were on the field for both offense and defense. He was an "ideal guard" for Coach Alex Yunevich.
Nick and his wife, Vivian, a teacher at Gates-Chili School District, are the parents of four children: Larry, Frances, Elizabeth and Nicholas.
