Jason Amore played four seasons (1993-97) for the men’s basketball team at AU lettering all four years and starting the last two.
When he graduated in 1997, Amore held records (since broken) for three-point field goals made in a career (223) and single game (eight). His 1,392 career points rank eighth on the school’s all-time list.
A team captain his junior and senior years, he helped lead the Saxons to a Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) title and berth in the NCAA Division III championship tournament as a senior in 1997. His 17 second-half points in the second half of the PAC championship tournament title game helped propel the Saxons to a win over Washington & Jefferson and gave AU a berth in the NCAA tournament.
Amore averaged 19 points per game as a junior in 1995-96 and was named a Second Team Empire Athletic Association (EAA) conference all-star.
He lists as his fondest memory as an AU student-athlete as being an integral part of turning the AU men’s basketball program around and helping lead the team to the NCAA championships.
Amore earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Alfred University in 1997 and went on to earn a master’s degree in community services administration from AU in 1999. He is currently executive director of development for Belknap Campus, University of Louisville.
He and his wife, Kara, live in Louisville, KY, with their son, Julian.
