ATLANTA, GA – The Alfred University women's basketball team earned Special Mention recognition as part of the 2025-26 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Honor Roll, as announced Wednesday.

"We're so proud of everyone for their hard work, marking another great academic year," Head Coach Mike Moskowitz said. "We pride ourselves on putting in a disciplined work ethic in everything we do and that's showing consistently in the classroom!"

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes college women's basketball teams across the nation in their respective divisions that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. A team must have a combined GPA of 3.0 or better and be nominated by its head coach who must be a member of the WBCA to be recognized. The 2025-26 season is the 31st in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.

The Saxons finished the 2025-26 academic year with a 3.541 team GPA. Specifically during the Spring 2026 semester, AU posted a 3.63 team GPA, which included three student-athletes earning Empire 8 President's List honors for eclipsing a 3.75 term GPA.

"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew said.  "The 119 ranked teams we honor this year across all five collegiate membership divisions strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"

Alfred University previously had four members of the women's basketball program named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team in March.
