ONEONTA, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team dropped a road Empire 8 dual-meet on Saturday afternoon at Hartwick College, 212-80.
Elizabeth Share (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) rounded out a perfect week in individual events, going 6-0 in total with another three wins on Saturday. She started her Saturday's wins with a time of 1:01.93 in the 100-yard backstroke and then won the 200-yard backstroke to close out a 4-0 week in backstroke events. On Saturday, Share swam a 2:15.41 to win the longer backstroke event. Earlier in the week, she swept the backstroke events at SUNY Geneseo with times of 1:00.73 and 2:12.22, respectively on Wednesday. Just like the mid-week matchup at the Knights' pool, Share added her third individual win of the day in the 200-yard individual medley, swimming a 2:19.33 on Wednesday and a 2:19.44 on Saturday. Share also had the fastest leadoff, backstroke legs of Wednesday's and Saturday's 200-yard medley relay races, swimming a 28.42 at Geneseo and a 28.89 at Hartwick.
Isobel Anderegg (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area),
Liv Richeda (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell),
Kyra Harry (Gaborone, Botswana/Enko Botho) and
Courtney Cherricks (Chincoteague, VA/Big Spring) all had second place finishes in between the lane lines on the day. Anderegg claimed silver in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.54, finishing the race in similar fashion to Wednesday's trip to SUNY Geneseo as both races came down to the final stretch. Immediately following the opening 200-yard medley relay races and the men's 1,000-yard freestyle, Richeda claimed her second place finish in the grueling 1K race. She reached the wall with a time of 12:36.39. Harry clocked a second place finish in the 50-free with a time of 26.91 before Cherricks earned second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.08.
Ruby Kavanagh (Queens, NY/LaGuardia High School of Music & Art) added a second place outside of the pool, scoring 198.00 points on the 3-meter diving board to take home a silver. She was third on the 1-meter board. "Ruby had a really good day on the boards putting up two personal best scores," Head Coach
Brian Striker '00 said. "The swimmers looked pretty good, albeit the times reflected a bit of fatigue. It has been a pretty rough couple weeks of training along with three away meets the past eight days."
The Saxons will next host the final dual-meet of the 2025-26 season on Saturday, January 24 at noon in non-conference action. They will welcome the Panthers of University of Pittsburgh at Bradford while they also celebrate the career of their lone senior,
Alexandra Simmons (Danbury, CT/Danbury) in pre-meet ceremonies.
