WEBSTER, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team finished fifth overall with 398 points as they ended the week of the Empire 8 championship competition at the Webster Aquatic Center on Saturday.

Elizabeth Share (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) was the champion of the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall first with an impressive time of 2:06.38 to completely sweep the backstroke events. This time also ranks as the second best in program history, right behind her very own record of 2:05.22. Courtney Cherricks (Chincoteague, VA/Big Spring) competed in the B-finals of the event, lowering her personal-best from 2:22.48 to 2:21.28.

Liv Richeda (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell), Alexandra Simmons (Danbury, CT/Danbury) and Chloe Basile (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) were the first to swim for AU in the finals on Saturday as they competed in the 1650-yard freestyle. Richeda clocked in at 20:06.44 for tenth place and a personal best, while Simmons followed right behind with a time of 20:16.65. Basile recorded her best of 21:20.71 in 13^th place.

In the b-finals of the 100-yard freestyle, Kyra Harry (Gaborone, Botswana/Enko Botho) tallied 56.38, taking a fourth-place finish.

In the 200-yard breaststroke, AU had five Saxons compete. Richeda trimmed time off her personal best, finishing in sixth with a time of 2:32.12. Isobel Anderegg (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) also recorded a personal-best swim, clocking in at 2:35.58 behind Richeda. In the consolation, Lauren Mott (Cortland, NY/Cortland) was the first to finish for Alfred University with a time of 2:42.53. Anna Muscatiello (Glenville, NY/Scotia-Glenville) and Abigail Klein (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) finished in succession, clocking in at 2:59.47 and 3:15.98, respectively.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the A-team of Harry, Cherricks, Anderegg and Share registered a combined time of 3:50.12 for fifth place. Simmons, Mott, Elsie Shumway (Murray, UT/Murray) and Mariam Kiragu (Gaborone, Botswana/Legae Academy) finished in at 3:58.41 as the B-team.
