WEBSTER, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team finished up day three of the Empire 8 championship meet at the Webster Aquatic Center on Thursday.
AU sits in fifth place with 278 points.
Elizabeth Share (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) won the 100-yard back stroke as she touched in at 58.07, recording her first Empire 8 Championship title and All-Empire 8 First Team honors. Share, from lane three of the eight-lane pool, was in second place after the first 50 yards but was able to out-pace Brockport's
Anna Lowe and hold off Geneseo's
Maya Marcyan to take first place as the other two settled for a two-way tie for second with a time of 58.26.

Olivia Richeda (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell),
Kyra Harry (Gaborone, Botswana/Enko Botho) and
Isobel Anderegg (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) kicked off the finals for the Saxons in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in fourth place with a combined time of 1:52.62 for 30 points. The B-team of
Miriam Kiragu (Gaborone, Botswana/Legae Academy),
Lauren Mott (Cortland, NY/Cortland),
Alexandra Simmons (Danbury, CT/Danbury) and
Elsie Shumway (Murray, UT/Murray) put together an effort of 2:01.82.
Following with the 200-yard butterfly, Simmons clocked in at 2:25.15 to take seventh place.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Richeda notched her best time yet, delivering a time of 1:10.10 in seventh place. Anderegg was right behind with her own personal best of 1:10.49.
Anna Muscatiello (Glenville, NY/Scotia-Glenville) completed the B-final with a time of 1:23.34. Immediately after,
Abigial Klein (Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) touched in for her fastest time of 1:29.79.
The final event of the day was the 800-yard freestyle relay. An A-team of Share, Mott, Harry and
Courtney Cherricks (Chincoteague, VA/Big Spring) delivered a combined time of 8:25:43, recording a fifth-place finish. Simmons, Richeda,
Chloe Basile (
Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) and
Shelby Baker (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo Central) clocked in at 8:59.33 as the B-team.
Alfred University will compete next in the time trials for prelims on Saturday, February 21 morning at 10:00am with finals set for later in the evening at 5:30pm, rounding out the Empire 8 Championships.
