ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's Libby Benner (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) was named the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.
 
Benner averaged 10.5 points per game during the Saxons' final two home games of the season. In the game against SUNY Brockport, she notched a season-high 12 points on a season-high 4-of-7 from the three-point line. Benner scored all her points from the 3-point line again against SUNY Geneseo as she registered nine points on 3-of-8 from behind the arc. She also added a season-high three assists to her stat line.
 
Benner and the Saxons will next close out their regular season with a road trip to Houghton University for conference action starting at 5:30pm.
