ALFRED, NY – Alfred University Athletics announced the addition of
Mike Bassage as an Assistant Coach to the baseball program.

Brian Kehew said. "He brings tremendous leadership, experience, and energy to the team. His impact on our players is immense, and I look forward to watching our pitchers develop under his guidance."
Prior to joining AU, Bassage spent time as the modified baseball coach and the assistant varsity coach for his alma mater Hornell High School. He was a three-time Livingston County First Team honoree and Evening Tribune First Team member, along with receiving Player of the Year and All-State honors in his senior year. Bassage led Hornell to back-to-back State Final Four appearances between 2002-03. Additionally, Bassage and his teammates earned the gold medal at the Empire State Baseball Games. Following his graduation at Hornell, Bassage was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the 2016 class.
Bassage graduated from the University of Pittsburgh following an extensive playing career with the Panthers. As a letterman winner, Bassage put together a successful collegiate career as a relief pitcher. Bassage earned his bachelor's degree in administrative justice in 2007.
