Baseball Celebrates Seniors Against Keuka College

ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University baseball team played in its final game of the 2026 season celebrating their seniors in a 21-4 loss to Keuka College on Sunday afternoon.

"Today was all about the seniors. It was fun to see the guys out there together one last time," Head Coach Brian Kehew said. "We want to thank the seniors for their contributions to this program and wish them all the best with their futures as they move on to the next phase of their lives."

Every senior available to play did so, with Ashton Goring (Brampton, ON, Canada) getting the nod and Alex Beaird (Oswego, IL/Oswego) entering in relief later on in the first inning. Beaird struck out a game-high four batters.

In the bottom of the second inning, senior Benjamin Weimer (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) smashed the third Saxon home run at the Galanis Stadium over the left field scoreboard. Weimer would reach base two more times thanks to walks.

Weimer was brought home in the bottom of the sixth when Brayden Bedingfield (Seabrook, TX/Clear Falls) knocked a single through the left side. AU brought home its fourth run of the afternoon thanks to another left-side single from senior Anthony Cortez (South Gate, CA/International Studies Learning Center) to score fellow senior Michael Ciardiello (Rutherford, NJ/Moore Catholic).

Cortez also recorded the final out of the seventh inning with a strikeout. Luke Rogoff (Cortland, NY/Cortland) recorded the first two outs of the seventh courtesy of the punch out. Senior Luke Dubben (Cherry Valley, NY/Cherry Valley-Springfield) got four innings of action with two strikeouts.

However, the visiting Wolves jumped out to an early lead in the first inning and never looked back.

Altogether, 10 seniors were celebrated pregame. Aside those previously mentioned, the other graduating seniors included Angelo DeFilippis (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic), Jeff Petrozzini (Hopewell, NJ/Hopewell Valley), Nolan Pridmore (Toronto, ON, Canada/Etobicoke Collegiate Insitute) and Sam Brocklebank (Bloomfield, NY/Bloomfield).

Alfred University will head into the offseason, prepping ahead for their next action in the Spring of 2027.
