BROCKPORT, NY - The Alfred University baseball team competed in their final road game of the spring season, losing 10-0 to SUNY Brockport on Sunday afternoon.
TJ Pappas (Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) got the initial nod on the mound for the Saxons, with
Alex Beaird (Oswego, IL/Oswego) and
Jack Grider (Stafford, VA/Brooke Point) each making relief appearances.
Ben Croote (Middleburgh, NY/Middleburgh) was the first Saxon to record a base hit on Sunday, registering a double to left field in the opening inning. In the following inning,
Angelo DeFilippis (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) recorded a single for AU, moving into scoring position after
Sam Brocklebank (Bloomfield, NY/Bloomfield) drew a walk. Both
Cameron Brought (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) and
Gavin Walker (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) reached base with a single in the fifth inning, but run support in five separate innings for Brockport was enough to come away with the sweep.
