ALFRED, NY – The Empire 8 announced on Tuesday afternoon that Alfred University's Matthew Osmundson (Draper, UT/Juan Diego Catholic) has been named as the Empire 8 Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, as made official in an announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.
 
This marks the first weekly Empire 8 award for both Osmundson and the men's soccer program this season.
 
Osmundson started his AU career with flair as he was instrumental in the 0-0 tie with Baldwin Wallace. Baldwin Wallace had eight great looks at finding the back of the net but each one of the shots on goal were stopped by Osmundson. For his efforts on the weekend, Osmundson was named a Saxon of the Week.
 
Osmundson and the Saxons will next travel to face the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
