ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's Kiani Barnard-Pratt (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) was named the Empire 8 Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, in an announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.
 
Barnard-Pratt helped the Saxons clinch a spot in the Empire 8 Championship Tournament and continue their undefeated streak in conference action (2-0-5 Empire 8 record) with a shutout win at Houghton University and a 0-0 draw against Hartwick College. She started the week with three saves in the 2-0 win at Houghton and ended with a game-high, six saves in the scoreless draw as the Saxons punched their ticket to the postseason, hosting Hartwick. Barnard-Pratt was named a Saxon of the Week.
 
Barnard-Pratt was joined in the Empire 8 listings by Matthew Osmundson (Draper, UT/Juan Diego Catholic) and Chase Freeland (Hornell, NY/Hornell) as the Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week and Co-Offensive Player of the Week and William LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne) as the Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week. Barnard-Pratt and LaMastus were the Saxons of the Week.
