ONEONTA, NY - The Alfred University women's soccer team wrapped up their weekend with a narrow 1-0 loss to Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon.
Alfred University registered their first corner kick opportunity during the 6
th minute of action.
Reagan Hunt (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) made her first collegiate start for the Saxons, picking up a save during the 15
th minute. Hunt and Alfred University defended three total shots in the first half before taking a scoreless draw into the break.
The Saxons relied on shots from
Mara Gloo (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) and
Aviana Petrizzo (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) in the offensive third to begin the second half. The Hawks responded with a goal in the 51
st minute to take the lead.
Anna Henner (Williamson, NY/Williamsville Senior) recorded the first shot on goal for AU during the 79th minute. Alfred University remained persistent on the offensive, with Petrizzo ending the game with a team-high four shots. However, AU was unable to equalize before the end of regulation.
Alfred University will next host SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
