ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's soccer team battled No. 18 University of Rochester on Wednesday evening, falling to the Yellowjackets, 5-1.
The Saxons (2-7-3, 0-4-1 Empire 8) were tested early, as Rochester generated three corner kick opportunities and four shots during the opening 12 minutes. The Yellowjackets (8-1-2, 0-1-0 Liberty League) broke through in the 12th minute to take the initial lead before adding three more goals to take a 4-0 advantage into halftime.
Rochester extended its lead with a goal in the 46th minute before Alfred University responded later in the half.
Zoey Wolf (Holley, NY/Holley) found the back of the net off an assist from
Isabelle Dennis (Livonia, NY/Livonia), marking Wolf's first goal of the season.
Reagan Hunt (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) entered in goal for the second half and recorded six saves for the Saxons.
Alfred University will return to Empire 8 play on Saturday, traveling to Hartwick College for a 1:00 PM matchup.
