ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming and diving team recognized their senior class prior to their dual meet against Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon at the McLane Center. The Bombers (7-1) defeated the Saxons (2-6-1, 1-2 Empire 8), 247-38, in AU's final home meet of the season.
"The work we have done over the past three weeks was evident today," Head Coach
Brian Striker said. "We swam and dove tired, but did surprisingly well; I thought we had a very solid effort from this team today! I know that we will have some great things happening in the next month as we gear up for championships."
The combined efforts of
Rachel Flaherty (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug), Mia Spencer (Omaha, NE/Omaha Central), Caitlin Behr (Long Beach Island, NJ/Southern Regional), and
Sarah Anderson (Wayne, PA/Radnor) in the 200-yard medley relay resulted in a final time of 2:05.67
. Ivy Vallely (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) finished in third place in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 20:26.37. Vallely later came in third place in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:11.64.
Alfred University will next appear at the Empire 8 Championships, which are scheduled to take place on February 16
th.
