ALFRED, NY –
Kalum Holbrook (Atlanta, NY/Wayland-Cohocton) of the Alfred University men's soccer team was named the Empire 8 Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday in an official announcement by Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro.
Â
Holbrook performed a rare feat in soccer as he scored a hat-trick, from the bench! Holbrook totaled 29 minutes of play where he, in order, assisted a goal by
Justin Eaton (Williamson, NY/Williamson), scored a goal from a
William Moore (Stormville, NY/John Jay) assist, tucked in another one from an
Alexander Teijeira (North Collins, NY/North Collins) pass and cleared the hat-trick with a penalty kick near the end of the 8-0 win over SUNY Cobleskill. Holbrook fired five shots with his three on-goal shots all finding the back of the net.
Â
All three of his goals were scored within six minutes and 14 seconds, making it one of, if not the fastest hat-trick in Alfred University school history.
Â
Holbrook was also named a Saxon of the Week along with
Jacey Palmgreen (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) of women's soccer. The pair were joined by
Kayla Silverstein (North Chili, NY/Churchville-Chili) as Empire 8 Players of the Week.
Â
Holbrook and the Saxons will next head to SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday, September 15 for a 6:00pm non-conference match.
