ALFRED, NY –
Jacey Palmgree (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) of the Alfred University women's soccer team was named the Empire 8 Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after an official announcement by Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro on Monday, making it her third time in a season as the first soccer player at AU to do so.

Palmgreen was named the Defensive Player of the Week in mid-September and the Offensive Player of the Week at the end of the opening month. She was also named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Month of September as well as two Saxon of the Week Honors.

Palmgreen tied the Alfred University school record in single season assists as she picked up her ninth of the year in a 1-0 win over the Empire 8 regular season champions and No. 1 seeded Nazareth College. Palmgreen placed a corner kick right in front of the Nazareth goal in the 47
th minute of play. Her kick was headed by
Alyssa Smith for the game-winning goal. Palmgreen also spear-headed a defense that only allowed six shots (all on-goal) as the Saxons picked up another shutout on the year.

Sai Baraka (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) as the Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and men's swimming & diving's
Emiliano Terrazas (La Paz, Bolivia/Saint Andrew's) as the Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week.

Alyssa Smith (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) also picked up a weekly award as one of the Saxons of the Week, joining Terrazas on Monday.

Palmgreen and the Saxons will next host No. 3 St. John Fisher College in the semi-finals of the Empire 8 Championship Tournament on Thursday, November 4 at 6:00pm at Yunevich Stadium.
