ALFRED, NY – Alfred University Women's Soccer Head Coach
Craig Yanni has announced the hire of
Danielle Perry '20 as the program's newest graduate assistant coach for the upcoming Spring 2021 season. Perry, a fall 2020 graduate of Alfred University, will assist Yanni with game planning and recruiting efforts.
"I am very excited to have Danielle return to our program as our Graduate Assistant," Yanni said. "Danielle's work ethic and dedication are going to be a great asset for our program. This is going to be great chance for Danielle to continue to have a positive impact on our program."
Perry wrapped up her soccer playing career in 2019, where the three-year captain starred on defense, playing in 44 contests with 41 starts. Impressively, she was only cautioned once during her career, tallying one yellow card. Her defenses were consistently among the stingiest in the Empire 8, as she helped to produce 17 shutouts in her career. She was also a longtime member of the track and field teams. She graduates as the AU record holder in both the indoor triple jump (10.87 meters) and the outdoor triple jump (10.91 meters) events.
On the academic front, Perry was a consistent member of the Empire 8 President's List (awarded to those who earn a 3.75 grade point average and above) and is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor society, which honors athletic and academic excellence on a national level.
Perry earned bachelor's degrees in both Biomaterials Engineering and Biology with a minor in Chemistry this past December. The Leicester, N.Y. native will pursue her M.S. in Biomaterials Engineering.
Alfred will return to action and begin the shortened spring season at home on March 14 vs Utica College. The Saxons come off an ECAC Quarterfinal appearance in the 2019 season.
