ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University men's track & field team has another Student-Athlete earn weekly recognition from the Empire 8 Athletic Conference as senior
Erik Diehl (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) was named the Empire 8 Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Diehl competed in the large, College at Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational on Saturday. In a field of 15 runners, including exhibition runners from individuals not attached to a team, Division I unattached runners, Division II runners from Daemen College and other Division III runners, Diehl won the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:07.81.
The time puts him just behind St. John Fisher's
Eddie Mahana and his conference-leading 1:07.26 as both look towards the Empire 8 Indoor Track & Field Championships this Saturday at Houghton College. Saturday's meet will begin at 10AM.
Teammate on the men's team,
Seth Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) and on the women's team,
Krissy Roberts (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) both earned recognition from the Empire 8 last week. Spicer was the Co-Field Athlete of the Week and Roberts was the Field Athlete of the Week. Spicer also earned Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Men's North Field Athlete of the Week.
