ALFRED, NY -- The Empire 8 Athletic Conference has named sophomore
Lexi Riffelbach (Clifton Park, NY/Catholic Central) of the Alfred University women's soccer team the Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon for the second, consecutive week.
Riffelbach tied the Alfred University school record for most goals scored in a single game as she tallied four against Utica College. Her hat-trick plus and-one secured the Saxons' spot in the Empire 8 Playoffs for the first time ever. In total, she took six shots on the day with all four of her on goal shots being scores. Kellie Hawks '96.
First-years
Amanda Guariglia (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) and
Holly Passetti (Nichols, NY/Tioga Central) along with junior
Olivia Cronmiller (Livonia, NY/Livonia) all recorded assists on the day.
Riffelbach and the rest of the Saxons will next travel to No. 1 seeded Hartwick College on Friday, October 3 for a 4 pm match in the opening round of the Empire 8 Playoffs.
