Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- The Alfred University men's lacrosse team ended its spring break training trip with a 20-10 win over fellow New York school, Hilbert College on Thursday afternoon.
Freshman
Joe Fornataro (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) led the Saxons (4-1, 0-0 Empire 8) in scoring with six goals. Sophomore
Jake Lynch (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) added four goals of his own and was tied with junior
Derek Bishopp (Livonia, NY/Livonia) for second place on the team in assists with three each. Bishopp also added four goals of his own to remain on par with Lynch. Junior
John Winchell (Vestal, NY/Vestal) led Alfred University with four assists.
Other goal scorers for the purple and gold were junior
Nick Skibitsky (Wiliamsville, NY/Williamsville East) with three goals and two assists while senior
Tanner Morse (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post East) mirrored the effort with three and two of his own, respectively. Sophomore
Brett McMichael (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) assisted on a goal while scoring one of his own.
Faceoff specialist and junior
Jimmy Pratti (Slatehill, NY/Minisink Valley) was 18-of-29 at center field.Â
As a team, the Saxons were 9-of-12 from man-up opportunites while stalling Hilbert six out of the Hawks' 10 chances.
The Saxons will next host Baldwin Wallace on Saturday, March 19 at 1pm.
