ITHACA, NY – The Alfred University women's track and field competed Friday and Saturday at the New York State indoor championship meet at Ithaca College.

The meet was held Friday and Saturday (Feb. 26 and 27). After the first day of competition, AU stood in 12th place with one point. AU sophomore Lindsay Piraino (Nunda, NY/Keshequa), scored the Saxons lone point with her eighth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (18:47.44).

Saxon sophomore Brynn Hyde (Homer, NY/Homer) just missed scoring with her ninth-place finish in the weight throw. Hyde's toss of 13.44 meters set a new school record, breaking the previous mark of 13.06 meters by Emily Moorhead in 2010. No more points were scored on Saturday, resulting in the Saxons dropping to 13th place.
