ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming and diving team fell to visiting Nazareth College, 169-71, in the Saxon's season-opening meet Saturday afternoon.
Junior
Kristin Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) won the 50 free (26.68) and placed third in the 100 free (1:00.78) to pace the Saxons. Other event winners were: senior
Samantha Brown (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) in the 100 fly (1:04.76) and junior
Megan Steen (Portsmouth, RI/Portsmouth) in the 100 back (1:07.07).
Samantha Brown also took third in the 200 individual medley (2:25.08).
Other top performers for AU were: first-year
Victoria Cramp (Hornell, NY/Hornell), second in 3-meter diving (152.65 points), senior
Faith Lanfear (Port Crane, NY/Chenango Valley), third in the 500 free (5:58.90), and junior
Elizabeth Schiffhauer (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca East), second in the 100 free (1:00.10) and third in the 200 free (2:13.79).
