ALFRED, NY —
Miasia Hillman (Buffalo, NY/Hutch Tech), a senior on the Alfred University women's indoor track and field team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week.
Hillman was honored for her performance at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference indoor championship meet at RIT Friday and Saturday (Feb. 27 and 28). She won the 60-meter dash in 7.84 seconds and set a new AU school record in winning the 200-meter dash in 25.63 seconds. She was named the meet's Most Outstanding Track Athlete.
She has the 15
th-fastest 60-meter time (7.77 seconds, Jan. 23 at Brockport) and the 17
th-fastest 200-meter time (25.63 seconds from the state championships Saturday). The top 16 in each event qualify to compete at the NCAA Division III championship meet, March 13-14 in Winston-Salem, NC.
Hillman has a final chance to move up in the national rankings in both sprint events when she competes this weekend at the ECAC indoor championships, March 6 and 7 in New York City. She will also run in the 4X200-meter relay at the ECAC meet.
