Rochester, NY - The Alfred University women's track & field team opened the Empire 8 Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday with a handful of impressive performances.
The Saxons were led by Natalya Ryckman (New Eagle, PA/Ringgold), who earned third place in hammer throw with a mark of 46.76m (153'-5"). Ryckman was followed in the event by Meridian Bremel (Reading, VT/Woodstock Union) (37.67m) and Shansanique Pollack (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) (30.84m).
Zoe Rainville (Saranac, NY/Saranac) competed in the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 13.29. Rainville was later joined by Nyah Allen (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen), Annabelle Townsend (Woodsville, NH/Woodsville) and Sydney Ribble (Addison, NY/Addison) in the 4x800-meter relay, crossing the finish line with a time of 10:38.59.
Alfred University will next wrap up the Empire 8 Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday.
