ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's track & field team competed at the St. John Fisher University Cardinal Classic on Saturday.
 
The Saxons were led by the throwers as four of their five Top-10 finishes came from them. Most notable was Meridian Bremel (Reading, VT/Woodstock Union) who not only re-broke her own school record in the discus throw for the third time in a row, but she qualified for the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Outdoor Championships by breaking the 38.00m mark. Bremel's new AARTFC-qualifying school record mark is 38.90m (127'-7") as she claimed second place in the meet.
 
Natalya Ryckman (New Eagle, PA/Ringgold) finished fifth in the hammer throw, tossing a mark of 44.35m (145'-6"). The next top finish for the Saxons was on the track as Annabelle Townsend (Woodsville, NH/Woodsville) clocked a time of 1:09.56 to finish sixth in the 400-meter hurdles.
 
Briana Dorr (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) recorded two Top-10 finishes in the throwing events. Her best was a 29.81m (97'-9") throw in the discus to take eighth. She then finished her Saturday with a ninth place finish in the shot put, sending a shot of 10.00m (32'-9.75") to win her flight and make finals.
 
The Saxons will next return to St. John Fisher University for the two-day Empire 8 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, starting on Friday, May 1 at 3:00pm and concluding on Saturday, May 2, starting at 10:30am.
