Hunter Cupp (Bath, NY/Haverling) was named as the Empire 8 Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday,
For the second week in a row, Cupp broke another Alfred University men's lacrosse school record. His 19 face-off wins in 23 attempts against SUNY Oswego on Saturday made him the all-time face-off wins leader in AU history with 764, surpassing the previous record of 762 by
Garrette Briggs '21. In addition, he led all Saxon players with 17 ground balls.
It was the second time Cupp was named as an Empire 8 Player of the Week in his career. It came one week ago when was named as a co-defensive player of the week after breaking the career ground ball record set by
Garrette Briggs '21.
Cupp was also named as one of the 10 USILA Players of the Week for the week of March 2 in Division III. It was the first national honor he was named for, and the first since Briggs in 2019 receive the honor.
