QUEENSBURY, NY – The Alfed University men's alpine skiing team concluded their two-day weekend on the West Mountain slopes. AU finished in 11th place on Friday and 12th on Saturday.
"Saturday's GS race was tough with a lot of new fallen snow to slip out of the course, but Sunday was fun and exciting in the sun and some athletes' best skiing so far," Head Coach Bob Cilino '13 said. "It was a long travel weekend but the vibes are still high as we approach the end of our season. More work to be done the next couple weeks in training as we try to push them further and further before Regionals."
In the giant slalom, Kevin Voegelin (Alleghany, NY/Alleghany-Limestone) was the fastest for the Saxons, clocking a time of 2:43.29. Logan Lane (Hillsboro, NH/Hillsboro-Deering) was second fastest as he posted 2:56.65. Vinci Armas (Winter Garden, FL/Horizon) recorded his first run at 1:28.24, but didn't register a time in his second run.
In day two of the event, Armas was first in the slalom for the Saxons with a total time of 1:38.36. Lane followed, posting a time of 2:01.25, while Garrett Farabaugh (Abington, PA/Abington Seniro) finished at 2:02.03.
Alfred University will next travel to Truxton, NY, on Saturday, February 14, to compete on the slopes at Labrador Mountain.
