TRUXTON, NY -- The Alfred University men's and women's alpine skiing team took to the slopes at Labrador Mountain on Saturday for the slalom course. The men came home in ninth, while the women placed 10th.
Kevin Voegelin (Alleghany, NY/Alleghany-Limestone) led the way for the Saxons, with consistent runs getting him in with a total time of 2:08.61. Meanwhile,
Vinci Armas (Winter Garden, FL/Horizon) was the second-best finisher clocking in at 2:22.13.
Garrett Farabaugh (Abington, PA/Abington Senior) wrapped up the men's side at 2:38.92.
Valérie Borg du Prie (Brussles, Belgium/European School Ixelles) was the lone competitor on the women's side. She finished best overall in the squad with sub-one minute times in each of her runs. It allowed her to finish 17th overall with a time of 1:45.72.
While AU was due to race Sunday at Greek Peak in the giant slalom, the race was canceled due to weather. Alfred University will next head to Bristol Mountain for the giant slalom race on Saturday, January 31 and the slalom race on Sunday, February 1.
