SELINSGROVE, PA - The Alfred University women's track & field team traveled to Susquehanna University to compete in the Friday Night River Hawk Showdown.
In the shot put,
Natalya Ryckman (New Eagle, PA/Ringgold) threw for a distance of 9.08m (29'-9.5") and
Meridian Bremel (Reading, VT/Woodstock Union) followed up with a toss of 9.02m (29'-7.25").
Shansanique Pollack (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) threw for a distance of 7.43m (24'-4.50") and
Poppy Mellor (Bath, ME Baxter Academy) threw a mark of 7.37m (24'-2.25").
In the weight throw, Ryckman placed 10th, throwing a distance of 12.39m (40'-7.75"). Bremel followed up at 15th with a distance of 12.06m (39'-6.75"). Pollack threw for a distance of 9.49m (31'-1.75") and Mellor threw 5.22m (17'-1.50").
On the track,
Rain Newton (Phelps, NY/Midlakes) ran for a time of 3:05.26 in the 800-meter run.
Taliyah Mitchell (Groton, CT/Fitch) ran for a time of 30.04 seconds and
Nyah Allen (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) followed up with a time of 30.24 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Rounding out the night for Saxons',
Vladyslava Makarenko (Berdychiv, Ukraine/Lyceum 23) placed seventh with a time of 11:43.34 in the 3,000-meter run and
Daria Melnychuk (Vinnytsia, Ukraine/Podillia Scientific and Technical Lyceum for Gifted Youth / The Principia) followed up with a time of 14:10.86.
The Saxons will next head to Nazareth University on Friday, February 13 to compete in the Division III Elite Meet, a two-day event.
