ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's track & field team ended its two-day weekend competition on Saturday during the Nazareth University D3 Elite Meet.
The Saxons were led by
Vladyslava Makarenko (Berdychiv, Ukraine/Lyceum 23) and
Natalya Ryckman (New Eagle, PA/Ringgold).
Makarenko took the top honor by placing 10
th during Friday's 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:54.04. All but four of her laps were sub-50-second paces. Her longest was the 4,000-4,200-meter lap, clocking a 51.01 with her fastest being her first and last laps, running faster than a 44-second split.
Ryckman also posted her top performance on Friday evening, taking 12
th in the weight throw. On her first of three throws, she tossed the weight out to mark at 12.79m (41'-11.5"). She ended her Friday with a throw of 12.55m (41'-2.25") on her final throw. On Saturday, she threw 9.31m (30'-6.5") on her second throw with her last being a flat 9.00m (29'-6.5"). Ryckman finished 20
th in the event.
"We've had a great two days," Head Coach
Matt Phillips '10 said. "Their hard work is really starting to show and it is setting us up nicely for E8's in two weeks."
The Saxons will next compete at Houghton University on Saturday, February 21 at 10:30am.
