ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team ended its regular season with a 181-49 victory over visiting University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Saturday afternoon from the McLane Natatorium.

The Saxons began the day by celebrating their lone senior athlete,
Alexandra Simmons (Danbury, CT/Danbury) and their senior diving coach,
Ryan Way.
AU won 12-of-16 events on the day. The first was in the uncontested 200-yard medley relay. The Saxon A-team of
Elizabeth Share (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon),
Isobel Anderegg (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area),
Kyra Harry (Gaborone, Botswana/Enko Botho) and
Lauren Mott (Cortland, NY/Cortland) had the top time between the three AU relay teams, posting a time of 1:59.13.
Courtney Cherricks (Chincoteague, VA/Big Spring) earned the first individual win, clocking a time of 12:52.50 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Share followed it up with a 2:05.19 victory in the 200-yard freestyle as the Saxons swept the event. Share was followed by Mott with a time of 2:15.45 and
Katherine Farrell (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) and her third place time of 2:32.79.
Anderegg then won the 100-yard breaststroke, reaching the wall in 1:12.86. Simmons followed the event and swam in the same heat as the men's 200-yard butterfly. Her time was pulled separate as she was the only women's swimmer entered to compete. Her time of 2:33.78 won the event.
Ruby Kavanagh (Queens, NY/LaGuardia High School of Music & Art) swept the diving events. She began with a personal best performance on the 1-meter diving board, scoring 201.98 points. Kavanagh then added another personal record as she scored 223.58 points on the tall board.
Harry led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100-yard freestyle with her time of 58.83.
Chloe Basile (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) and
Elsie Shumway (Murray, UT/Murray) followed with times of 1:04.80 and 1:06.35, respectively.
Share followed the 100-free with a win in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 2:12.38. Mott, along with
Shelby Baker (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo Central) and Farrell, swept the 500-yard freestyle as no Panther swimmer was entered into the race. Mott posted a winning time of 6:03.70. The same happened shortly after as two Saxons swam against no opponents in the 100-yard butterfly as Harry won it with a time of 1:06.96. Anderegg was second.
Just like how the meet started, it ended with three Saxon relay teams and no Panther teams. The team of Simmons, Harry, Share and Anderegg posted the top time of 1:48.13.
The Saxons will next turn their sights and training sessions toward the Empire 8 Championships, hosted at the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY, starting on Wednesday, February 18 and going until Saturday, February 21.
