ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team ended its regular season with a 207-57 victory over visiting University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Saturday afternoon from the McLane Natatorium.

The Saxons began the day by celebrating their two senior athletes,
Tucker Jones (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain) and
Keagen Winkky (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and their senior diving coach,
Ryan Way.
AU dominated in the pool, winning 14-of-16 events. The first of the 14 wins came in the 200-yard medley relay as
Youssef amr Abdallatif (Cairo, Egypt/Raya Language School),
Carlos Gonzalez (Baja California, Mexico/Unifront),
Andre Ayala (Mexico City, Mexico/Preparatoria No°5) and
Calem Striker (Hornell, NY/Hornell) combined for a time of 1:36.06. Each one of them claimed the top time in their respective legs of the relay.
Sean Killian (Kenmore, NY/St. Joseph's Collegiate Institution) got the second win of the day with a time of 10:51.38 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. While he was in the pool,
Jaxson McQuaid (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) was earning his first of two victories on the day, scoring 281.63 points on the 1-meter diving board, cementing his position at the NCAA Division III Diving Regional Championship at Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday, February 27 and the following Saturday. Ayala picked up an individual win in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.61 shortly after. McQuaid later went on to win the 3-meter diving event, posting a score of 250.58.
Abdallatif did what he does best as he won the first backstroke event with a time of 50.24. Gonzalez put up another win for the Saxons, winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a new pool record time of 57.50, breaking Hall of Famer and All-American
Brian Agro's '09 time of 58.61 set in 2009.
Uros Stojic (Niš, Serbia/Prva niška gimnazija Steven Sremac) won the 200-yard butterfly, reaching the wall in 2:21.01. Immediately after, prior to the first break of the meet, senior Winkky led a 1-2-3 sweep of the 50-yard freestyle, swimming a 23.37, just ahead of teammates
Mahmoud Elkady (Cairo, Egypt/Smart City) and his time of 23.57 and
Seif Asaad (Cairo, Egypt/Stanford) and his time of 23.63.
After the break, Striker did the same as Winkky and led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100-yard freestyle as he swam a 48.25.
Zeke Doerner (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) and
Dillan Allyn-Nobles (Elmira Heights, NY/Thomas A. Edison) followed with times of 53.82 and 58.71, respectively.
Pitt-Bradford went on the win the next two events, the 200-yard backstroke and breaststroke.
Ayala picked up his third win of the day with a 4:51.13 in the 500-yard freestyle. Gonzalez followed with a 52.64 in the 100-yard butterfly, an event that featured eight Saxons and two heats.
Abdallatif ended the individual events with a pool record in the 200-yard individual medley, posting a time of 1:54.28. The time broke teammate, Gonzalez's 2024 record of 1:54.71.
AU ended its day with a sweep of the 200-yard freestyle relay as all four teams posted faster times than the one Panther relay team. The team of Abdallatif, Ayala,
Emmanuel Drappatz (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel Hill) and Striker won with a time of 1:29.95.
The Saxons will next turn their sights and training sessions toward the Empire 8 Championships, hosted at the Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY, starting on Wednesday, February 18 and going until Saturday, February 21.
