ALFRED, NY – Alfred University Baseball Assistant Coach Mike Bassage wrapped up a successful coaching stint with the Dansville Gliders this past summer as part of the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL).

"I am grateful to the Dansville Gliders organization for giving me the opportunity to be their Head Coach for the 2025 season," Bassage said. "We started off slow, but as the season went on, we found our groove and played some great baseball, finishing in second place in the West Division. The kids bought into my coaching style and played hard for me all summer long, which was all I asked out of them when I took the team over!"

Bassage, who took over Head Coaching duties for the Gliders following an 0-2 start to the regular season, finished with a 25-16 overall record during his first season at the helm. The win total for the Gliders marked the most in program history dating back to the 2007 season. Additionally, it was the most wins in a single season since the organization moved to Dansville.

Under Bassage's leadership, the Gliders finished in second place in the Western Division and earned a home postseason game during the Wild Card round. The team defeated the Olean Oilers in the Wild Card round and advanced to the Western Division Finals for the second consecutive season. Individually, Bassage led a group of talented players that included five NYCBL All-Stars and six NYCBL All-League honorees.
