BROCKPORT, NY – The Alfred University women's track and field team finished seventh overall in the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships at SUNY Brockport on Saturday.
Anne Spila (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) completed the heptathlon in fourth place with a total of 2,585 points.
Spila later joined the Saxons in the 4x400-meter relay. She along with
Annabelle Townsend (Woodsville, NH/Woodsville),
Zoe Rainville (Saranac, NY/Saranac) and
Natalya Ryckman (New Eagle, PA/Ringgold) posted a season best time of 4:21.29 to earn fifth. Alfred University set another season best in the 4x100-meter relay, notching sixth at 52.73 seconds. On the relay team were Rainville, Townsend, Ryckman and
Octavia Fred (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk).
Meridian Bremel (Reading, VT/Woodstock Union) earned a spot on the podium in the discus throw. She threw for 33.18m (108'-10") to register seventh.
Briana Dorr (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) clinched a top 10 finish in the shot put. She recorded a personal best of 10.67m (35'-0.25") to claim tenth.

Matt Phillips '10 said. "Several athletes stepped up and had outstanding results. It was fun to watch our relay squads come together at the end of the meet with huge season bests."
