ALFRED, NY – Anne Spila (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) of the Alfred University women's track and field team earned All-Region honors for the Niagara region, announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday.
Spila was selected to the first team for the heptathlon with a school record mark of 4,341. She broke the school record while earning third overall at the River Hawk Multi hosted by Susquehanna University on April 11. Spila currently holds the top three program records for the event.
"Anne earning All-Region is a great way to cap off the career of a wonderful individual and outstanding athlete," Head Coach
Matt Phillips '10 said. "She has helped elevate the legacy of Alfred University, producing great multi athletes."
To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top five individuals in their event in their respective region on the TFRRS Descending Order List. In addition, each member of a region's top three relay team was selected for the distinction.
