ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's track & field team began the outdoor season with outstanding performances at the Redhawk Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan University on Wednesday.

Matt Phillips'10 said. We had such a fun day today. The weather was so nice for mid-March and we were glad to be able to take advantage of it and lay down some great performances. The energy was high and we will build on that as the season progresses."
Anne Spila (Mechanicsburg, PA/Trinity) produced two top-three finishes in her two individual events. She placed second at 16.79 in the 100-meter hurdles and third at 13.31 in the 100-meter dash.
Annabelle Townsend (Woodsville, NH/Woodsville) registered a personal best time of 1:03.26 to claim second in the 400-meter dash. She also placed fifth at 2:38.08 in the 800-meter dash.
Zoe Rainville (Saranac, NY/Saranac) was 2.35 seconds behind Townsend in the 400-meter dash, notching third at 1:05.61. In addition, she ran a time of 29.05 to finish fifth in the 200-meter dash.

Natalya Ryckman (New Eagle, PA/Ringgold) and Spila took part in the 4x400-meter relay where they posted second at 4:29.13.
In throws,
Briana Dorr (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) set two personal bests while finishing in the top five. She notched a 10.12m throw (33'-2.5") to claim third in the shot put. Dorr took fourth in the discus after throwing for 29.83m (97'-10").
Meridian Bremel (Reading, VT/Woodstock Union) recorded the second top-five performance of her career after she earned fifth in the shot put at 9.50m (31'-2").
The Saxons head to Houghton University for the Highlander Invitational at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 29.
